ROC Inc. Research Funding Appeal
Help us reach our goal to further research into JGCT
-
Thanks to the Illawarra community we have able to create research which is now the world’s largest for JGCT- Juvenile Granulosa Cell Tumour.
The goal of the research is to find the mutated gene through genomics for treatment options and to find a cure!
-
The research includes Australia's youngest case diagnosed at 11months old to Australia’s oldest diagnosed at 52 years old. It also includes a local child diagnosed at 16 years old.
Recently but sadly it also includes the world’s youngest case diagnosed at just four months old.
-
With our initial donations and fundraising money, we have been able to connect with Dr Simon Chu from the Hudson Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne. Dr Chu is a world leader in his field and specialises in Granulosa Cell Tumours.
-
No previous research into this disease means no answers to move forward for treatments or clinical trials. Granulosa cell cancers have a recurrent nature that is they come back over a long length time and requires a lifetime of monitoring.
That is why this research is so vital.
-
Currently the research covers 5 to 6 participants.
We have 24 participants registered with ROC Inc. making it the world’slargest research for JGCT and the numbers continue to grow.
Our next goal is to raise $25,000 to be able to pay for another 3 to 4 participants in the research.
