About Us

Rare Ovarian Cancer Incorporated (ROC Inc.) was set up to help raise money for much needed research for Rare Ovarian Cancers.

Ovarian cancer is not just an old person’s disease. That’s a common misconception. Ovarian cancer doesn’t discriminate with age be it a child, adolescent or adult.
Through research we can improve the way that Rare Ovarian Cancers can be treated and managed.

Rare Ovarian Cancer Incorporated is registered charity.

Rare Ovarian cancer Incorporate also fondly known as ROC Inc is a Not For Profit charity that started in the Illawarra February 2018, raising awareness for Ovarian cancer and it’s symptoms and raising money for vital research for Juvenile Granulosa Cell Tumour (JGCT) a rare and incurable ovarian cancer that a local in the Illawarra child was diagnosed with at 16years old.

The research which is now the world’s largest for JGCT includes Australia’s youngest case diagnosis at 11months old to Australia’s oldest in the research diagnosed at 52years old. Recently, also includes the world’s youngest case diagnosed at just four months old!

No previous research into this disease means no answers to move forward for treatments or clinical trials. Granulosa cell cancers have a recurrent nature that is they come back over a long length time and thus requires a lifetime of monitoring. The recurrences are generally chemotherapy resistant and tend to be highly aggressive with a poor prognosis. Hence there is a critical need to find ways to treat this disease. That is why this research is so vital.
