About CMBA

The Cathedral School in Townsville has supported a Mountain Bike Academy since 2020. The Academy is open to Students from Prep to Year 12 and is the only program in Australia run over such a large age group.

Our Junior School Academy (JSA) trains at School every Monday during Terms 1-3 and has over 50 Members. Riders learn skills such as Cornering, Braking, Gearing and how to ride over and around obstacles. Twice a term we take riders out to the local Douglas Mountain Bike Park to hone these skills and allow the kids to have some time and fun in nature.

The Middle and Senior School Academy (MSSA) trains at Douglas every Thursday during Terms 1-3 where they learn and enhance their skills with Nationally qualified coaches. The MSSA also attends various races in Townsville and around Queensland and has twice won the Townsville Schools MTB Cup. We have taken riders to Derby in Tasmania in 2022 and plan on taking riders to Rotorua in New Zealand in late 2024.
