Hello, I’m Ben MacKenzie, an Associate Director at Zanetti Recruitment & Consulting, based in Brisbane. I pursued my Masters in HR with a focus on Employment Law, originally considering a career in law. However, after a chance meeting with Ric Zanetti, I’ve been working alongside him for the past eight years in Financial Services Recruitment.
I’m originally from Wagga Wagga, NSW. I’ve always been a really active person. Aussie Rules and NRL are favourites, with the Sydney Swans and the Newcastle Knights being my teams. I won a premiership with Collingullie Ashmont Kapooka Football Club before relocating to Brisbane and that would rank as my favourite sporting memory. Injuries, including a broken neck and a knee reconstruction (amongst others!), have been setbacks, but I’m still actively involved with the Coorparoo Kings and I’m back playing touch football with UQ Rebels, both of which are fantastic clubs.
Life is great in Brisbane, where I’m happily married to my partner, Laura. I’m excited to be a part of this bike ride, driven by a desire to make a positive impact. Megan Reaburn is my beautiful sister-in-law, and I’ve been lucky enough to spend time with Peter and Claire more recently. I’m committed to doing my part to raise awareness for this rare form of cancer.
