Four years ago today marked the start of Rare Ovarian Cancer Incorporated (ROC Inc) a journey to create a greater public awareness and research for Rare Ovarian Cancer.
With no screening test for ovarian cancer, the symptoms are often vague and easy to dismiss. Our goal is to create a greater public awareness for ovarian cancer and its symptoms. In 2019 together with our research partners at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research we initiated the world’s first, and largest research for Juvenile Granulosa Cell Tumour (jGCT) a rare ovarian cancer. In 2020, with the support of ROC Inc, Hudson Institute/ Monash University was awarded a Medical Research Future Funds (MRFF) grant of $2.2million for a new era in Granulosa Cell Tumour research. This grant is the first time in Australian history that jGCT has received federal funding for research. The participants in this study come from all around the world, with the youngest in Australia diagnosed at 11 months old and the eldest at 52 years.
It has been an amazing journey so far that couldn’t have been achieved without the dedication from the ROC Inc team, our volunteers, community and business supporters and the researchers. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all your support.
We invite you to join us and help continue vital research while we strive for better treatment options and our goal of a cure. You can make a life-changing difference today, in just a few clicks.
