Riding For Ovarian Cancer Research
Michelle Woods
Hi I’m Michelle, Shell, Shredder, Meechy, Mum, Traffic, TC and Acquired just a few names I answer too any given day!
Like many others , Cancer has shaped my life more than once. I lost my father to cancer, and later my stepfather. While it wasn’t ovarian cancer, the impact on a family is universal — it changes everything.Sport and community have always played a big part in my life, and more than a decade ago I found mountain biking.
What began as curiosity quickly became a lifeline. Not long after losing my stepfather, I was also navigating the sudden absence of the father of my two sons. During that time, the MTB community offered strength, friendship, and a place to belong. Riding gave me focus when life felt overwhelming.Nine years on, I’m still raising my boys solo. The responsibility of motherhood has shifted my priorities, but cycling remains my place of sanity — a way to breathe, reset, and keep moving forward.
These days, riding isn’t about racing or results. It’s about endurance, quiet adventure, and using something that brings me peace to help others. Through R4R26, my goal is to raise $5,000 to support rare ovarian cancer research and help shine a light on women’s health.
Thank you for being part of this journey — every bit of support truly matters.
