Riding For Ovarian Cancer Research
Jason Vaughan
Hello and welcome to the Rare Ovarian Cancer – Ride For Research fundraising campaign. My name is Jason Vaughan and I’ll be taking on the challenge of the Great Queensland Rail Trail Adventure (GQRTA) in 2026. Over 5 days, I’ll be one of 15 cyclists aiming to cover 689km (58% unpaved) between Gladstone and Brisbane.
Before I heard about the Ride For Research campaign 2 years ago, I hadn’t met anyone suffering from Rare Ovarian Cancer. But Rare Ovarian Cancer has a devastating impact on the lives of many women, and ongoing research is not well-funded. This disease doesn’t discriminate and affects women of all ages – even as young as Primary School age.
Without more funding and additional research to identify treatment options, this lesser-known disease won’t be understood or beaten. It’s one of the main reasons why I’m taking part in this event. And I’m proud to say that every dollar donated to support my GQRTA effort will go towards helping ROC partners with Medical Research in Australia.
A little about me… I’m a dad with two boys and a loving wife. Living in North Queensland, we’re an active family and all enjoy good health. But we’re not immune from the reach of cancer and have extended family and friends that have fought the battle. This year we’re supporting ROC because more awareness = more donations = more research = greater outcomes for any woman diagnosed with Rare Ovarian Cancer.
So, 4 months to go and I need YOUR help. If your niece, sister, daughter, wife or mother might one day appreciate a treatment for Rare Ovarian Cancer, please support my Ride For Research campaign and donate via the link above. Every dollar counts towards beating this disease.
