Joan Pease MP addresses Queensland Parliament about rare ovarian cancer

Joan Pease MP recently spoke in Queensland Parliament about a cause that is very important to her – rare ovarian cancer (ROC), a form of cancer that lacks awareness and research to better understand the disease. Joan’s husband Peter will be doing a Ride for Research, starting at Parliament House in Canberra on 30 April and finishing at Melbourne Cricket Grounds on 8 May World Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day, to raise awareness and funds for this important issue.

Riding for my Aunty Claire and for every other female who will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer

ROC Inc Ride 4 Research Rider Profile: Sheree Osborne The appeal of this fundraiser, for me, is multifactorial. Personally – I feel the need to support this cause, as my Aunty Claire (Reaburn) was diagnosed with Juvenile Granulosa Cell Tumour, a rare form of ovarian cancer. I have the utmost respect for my Uncle Peter (Claire’s husband of 34 years) in organising this fundraiser to make a very real, and very positive change, for Claire. My pain for 9 days will not compare to the pain endured by cancer victims. I will ride for those diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Ride 4 Research rider Profile of Ken Theodore Hi I’m Ken Theodore, from Townsville in North Queensland. Up until 12 years ago, swimming had been my main form of exercise. Fortunately at that time, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and complete a half-marathon. The pain that followed led me to a physio who told me that my body shape was not for running nor swimming and suggested that I take up cycling! Little did I know, a colleague of mine was a cyclist wanting to return to road riding. Within 2 years, we had established a […]

Mara is using her passion for cycling to ride 900km for ovarian cancer research.

Ride 4 Research Rider profile: Mara Ferraro When you commit to anything in life, you need to do it with a smile.  This has been my approach to cycling, work and family. Cycling has been my passion for the past 15 years, though I did graduate from the local triathlon series scene first.  I can still remember the fun and excitement of getting back on the bike for the first time after a long break.  My priorities for a little while in the past were directed to raising 3 wonderful children, who have now started their own life journeys away […]
