Riding For Ovarian Cancer Research
Lee-Ann Dalton Profile
I’m a bit of a late comer to the world of cycling. I denied my husband’s requests to get up and see the sunrise and sit on a tiny little seat for hours, until one day I was bitten by the bug. Now as a retired mother of two grown children I get to see plenty of beautiful sunrises every week while riding with people who have become more than just cycling friends.
My sporting prowess was limited to ballet all my childhood and teenage years, so early starts should have been nothing new to me. My early on working days were as a Shorthand Typist for Queensland Rail. Prior to having our children and purchasing our business I was Executive Secretary to Manager of Hastings Deering. Over the last 20 years I have focused more on the children and our family business that my husband and I have grown. Taking a small team of three to a business that now supports fifteen families.
We have had the pleasure of watching our children take this business to a whole new level. With more time on our hands, I figure my husband and I are both in the perfect position to help our old neighbours and friends, Claire and Peter with raising awareness of this special cause. We have had the pleasure of being friends and watching our children growing up together and continue their great friendship even though they are divided by distance.
Although daunted by the challenge of 900 kilometres in 9 days, I’m sure the care and support being offered by the team and knowing our efforts are for such a worthwhile cause will help me dig deep and get across the line.
Thank you ♡
